Vijećnica (City Hall)
The pseudo-Moorish jewel

About Vijećnica (City Hall)
Vijećnica, designed in a pseudo-Moorish style and completed in 1896, was the City Hall and later the National and University Library. In August 1992 it was shelled and burned, with most of its books. Painstakingly restored, it reopened in 2014 and hosts the city council, exhibitions and concerts. The interior, with its stained-glass ceiling, is spectacular.
