Bosnia’s great mosque

About Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque

Built in 1530–31 for Gazi Husrev-beg, governor of Bosnia, by the architect Acem Esir Ali, this is the largest historic mosque in the country. Its courtyard, with a fountain and great trees, is a peaceful place; visitors can enter outside prayer times, dressed modestly, for a small fee. Opposite stands the Gazi Husrev-beg madrasa, and nearby the clock tower.
