Ilidža has been a spa since Roman times and became a fashionable resort under Austria-Hungary. Its park and the long avenue of plane and chestnut trees, Velika aleja, lead to Vrelo Bosne. The Roman Bridge, actually Ottoman and built with Roman stones, is nearby.
